Welcome Drinks

Come find us for a drink and say hello before the big day.

FridayDecember 11
6:40 PM

Church Doors Open

Please be seated by 6:55 PM. The doors close promptly at 7:00.

7:00 PM

Nuptial Mass Begins

A traditional Catholic ceremony at Santo Toribio, roughly one hour.

8:00 PM

Reception Begins

A short walk to Santa Clara. Cocktails in the cloister, then a seated dinner beneath the arches.

9:30 PM

First Dance & Toasts

Followed by dancing in the courtyard.

12:00 AM

Farewell

The walled city is small and lovely at night. Most hotels are a short walk away.

Flights & Arrival

Everyone lands in the same place: Rafael Núñez International (CTG), a small and mercifully simple airport sitting right inside the city, about fifteen minutes from the old walls. Four American cities fly there without a stop.

Nonstop from the United States

MIA

Miami

American and Avianca, several times a day. Just under three hours, and the easiest connection from almost anywhere in the States.

FLL

Fort Lauderdale

JetBlue. The shortest of the four at roughly two hours and fifty minutes.

JFK

New York

JetBlue and Avianca. About five hours and ten minutes, nonstop.

ATL

Atlanta

Delta, roughly four hours — but only a few days a week rather than daily. Check the calendar before you settle on dates.

A note on United: their new nonstops from Houston and Washington Dulles begin on December 17th, six days after the wedding. If you see those routes advertised, they won’t get you here in time.
One Stop

Connecting

If none of the four gateways is convenient, Avianca connects through Bogotá or Medellín and Copa through Panama City. Any of them adds a couple of hours rather than a day.

Before You Fly

Passports & Paperwork

American, Canadian, British and EU passport holders do not need a visa for a stay of ninety days or less. Do check that your passport has at least six months left on it.

Everyone must complete the free Check-Mig form online between one and seventy-two hours before each flight — once on the way in, once on the way out. It takes about two minutes.

On Landing

From the Airport

The walled city is ten to fifteen minutes away. Official taxis queue outside arrivals, but most hotels will send a car if you ask ahead, which is the kinder option after a long day of travel.

When to Come

Timing Your Trip

Welcome drinks are Thursday evening, so plan to land Wednesday or early Thursday at the latest.

Come a few days earlier if you can. December 7th and 8th are the Día de las Velitas, when the whole city sets candles out in the streets — it is the loveliest night of the Cartagena year, and you are already coming all this way.

Hotel Recommendations

December is high season in Cartagena and the walled city books out early. We'd suggest reserving as soon as you're able — with one exception, noted below.

Reception Venue

Sofitel Legend Santa Clara

Stay where the party is. A 1621 convent in San Diego, steps from the church and the sea wall.

A block of rooms is being held here at a reduced rate. Details will appear on this page within the week — worth a moment’s patience before booking.
